Biography
Dr. Adelya Shagidullina is an award-winning violist. Her numerous awards include First Prize at the Togliatti International Music Competition, Eugen Coca International Music Competition, Andrey Korsakov All Russian Music Competition, as well as the First Prize and special prize for the best performance of a commissioned work at the National J.S. Bach Competition. In November 2016 Dr. Shagidullina was announced the First Prize Winner of "American Protege International Competition" and a Winner of prestigious "The American Prize Competition". The former won her an opportunity to give a solo performance in Carnegie Hall in December 2016. Dr. Adelya Shagidullina returned to Carnegie Hall in June of 2019 for a solo performance as a top winner of the LISMA International Competition (August, 2017). In May of 2018 she became a winner of the Beverly Hills National Auditions, which won her concert engagements in Encinitas, Torrance, and Beverly Hills, CA.
From 2009 until 2015 Dr. Shagidullina was on the roster of iPalpiti Artists International, as well as a principal violist and a soloist of the iPalpiti Chamber Orchestra. Dr. Shagidullina performed in such venues as the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow (Russia), and Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York, and Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, among others. As iPalpiti soloist Dr. Adelya Shagidullina appeared in the New York Benefactors Series at the residence of Charles Avery Fisher, and annually featured in "Sundays Live!" radio broadcast chamber concerts.
Dr. Shagidullina is an active solo, chamber, and orchestra musician, as well as dedicated teacher.
In 2014 she joined Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia for its American tour with Branford Marsalis and performs with the orchestra since then; she also regularly appears in the chamber concert series of Jupiter Symphony Chamber players, Bargemusic, Ltd., BCENY Concert evenings, Mallery Concert Series, Embassy Concert Series, and Candlelight Concert Series. In May of 2016 Dr. Adelya Shagidullina was invited to join the Fine Art Music Company concert series and actively performs with the group since then. Dr. Shagidullina was a featured soloist with the iPalpiti Chamber Orchestra, Delaware County Symphony Orchestra, and with the Tidewater Intergenerational Orchestra. She is a violist of a newly formed Embassy Quartet since September of 2021, and has joined the viola section of the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra in September of 2022.
Dr. Shagidullina collaborated with such prominent musicians as Eduard Schmieder, Dmitry Berlinsky, Svetlana Smolina, Luiza Borac, Mark Peskanov, and Branford Marsalis, to name a few. She also shared stage with such artists as Boys II Men, Josh Groban, and The Priests.
Over the past ten years, Dr.Adelya Shagidullina has taught extensively at both public and private institutions, such as Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, and the School of Mahanaim in Huntington, VA. Dr. Shagidullina gave masterclasses at the ASTA festival, Rowan University, and Gracias Music Festival.
During her years of study, Dr. Shagidullina has studied with such teachers as Eduard Schmieder, Daniel Avshalomov, and Lambert Orkis. She received her Doctoral degree in Musical Arts from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA in 2019.
Dr. Adelya Shagidullina plays on a copy of Carlo Giuseppe Testore, generously gifted to her by a renowned luthier, Jon Van Kouwenhoven.
